Chanukah
This week was the beginning of Chanukah! We played and acted out the Chanukah story with costumes and different puppets. We used our math skills with our many counting games that we played with our Menorahs. We learned all the Hebrew letters on the dreidel- ‘svivon’. Nun, gimmel, hey and shin each letter standing for another Hebrew word—Nes Gadol Haya Sham a great miracle happened there (Israel). We had so much fun practicing our songs and singing at our Chanukah performance! We hope you enjoyed our party.

I is for Israel
For the letter I we learned about a very special place, Israel. It also fell out on the week of Chanukah. We remembered that Morah taught us about the temple -’Bet Hamikdash’ that is in Jerusalem or in Hebrew—Yerushalayim. We saw a picture of a place that still remains from the Bet Hamkidash, it’s called the Western Wall—‘Kotel’. In Yerushalayim they do construction with one type of stone, it’s called the Jerusalem stone. We looked at different pictures of the Kotel and wanted to create a mini Israel scene in our class. Looking carefully at the pictures we noticed that on the top part of the Kotel were small bricks and on the bottom were much larger ones. We did the same thing, we cut out small and large bricks for our class Kotel. Morah then told us that we can write a letter to Hashem and place it in the Kotel wall. Come visit and see our Kotel- it looks great!
