E and Shabbat

Shabbat
What an exciting week we had this week in the Nursery class, we were learning and preparing for Shabbat all week long! We reviewed the Torah story about how Hashem created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th. To commemorate that we do special things on Shabbat. We light candles to bring in Shabbat, sing special Shabbat prayers, make a Bracha on Kiddush, and spend time with our families and friends. We learned a new song to sing at our Friday night Shabbat dinner. Using markers we decorated crowns and can't wait to sing for you all! We baked special oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for dessert and even got to sample some. Looking forward to seeing you all tonight!

E
This week we learned about the largest animal that lives on land, the elephant. An elephant has no fingers or toes. Its’ large ears act as fans to cool itself off in the heat of the grasslands. The white tusks on the side of its mouth are made of ivory. The trunk is like a giant fork and straw. It slurps up water, picks up food and then brings it to its mouth. The trunk also acts as a nose, which the elephant uses to smell for friends or danger. After learning all about the elephant we created our very own elephant hats. We stuffed stockings with paper for the trunk, painted plates grey, measured our heads .. we turned into elephants! The leader of the elephants is the grandmother, she is in charge. Morah acted like the grandma elephant and lead her herd in song. To prepare for next week’s topic of fire we walked around the school looking for all the school’s EXIT signs.
