Pesach
Pyramids, Matza bakery, circle time... so many fun and exciting new things happening in the Nursery class just so that we can be ready for Pesach! This week we learned the story of how wicked King Paroh made the Jews work, and Hashem sent Moshe down to take the Jews out of Egypt to freedom. We built pyramids using different toys in our construction zone - blocks, legos, magna tiles!
Next week we will be going to the JCM and going to a Model Matza Bakery!
V is for Volcano
This week we learned about the fascinating science of volcanoes. We learned that there are 3 types of volcanoes- active and extinct, and sometimes it seems like a volcano is sleeping (dormant) but it can wake up and erupt, that is what we call an active volcano. Extinct volcanoes have not erupted for a long time. When the magma inside the volcano pushes up or erupts and comes out of the volcano, it is called lava. Lava is extremely hot, it is even hotter than the pot on our stoves at home! We tested the speed of lava by using different raised surfaces. The steeper the surface the quicker the ‘lava’ flowed. When lava cools down it turns into hard rocks. We shaped our very own volcanoes and enjoyed doing a science experiment with them. We poured baking soda into our volcanoes' hole. Then we added some vinegar, and watched what happened- it was an incredible eruption!
ERUPTING VOLCANOS!
