Transportation
How do we get from home to school, New York to Israel, Earth and the Moon? There are many different modes of transportation. We initiated this lesson using the different forms of transportation we use to get to school; strollers, walking, driving, taking the subway, riding bikes and scooters were some of the ways we come to school. Using the globe to help us we discovered 3 main areas on earth land, air and sea and each one have different vehicles to go from one point to the next. The sea has ships, canoes, submarines and we can swim too! The air has airplanes, hot air balloons and rockets. We learned that years ago when vehicles were not yet invented people used animals as a means of transportation. In desert like places camels would transport people. In our times people still use animals to get from one place to the another like a police officer on a horse. We created our very own Transportation book. We learned 3 Hebrew words this week. ‘Aviron’-airplane. ‘O-neeya’-
boat. ‘Rakevet’-train.

U is for Umbrella
This week we reviewed the water cycle. It was incredible how much we remember and it was fun reviewing the big words such as: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. We learned about rain when we learned the letter ‘C’ for cloud. Now we are up to the letter ‘U’ only 5 more letters till we finish all the alphabet! We played an umbrella counting game, matching the correct amount of raindrops to the numbered umbrella. We discussed that an umbrella is a form of protection from the rain. Which led us to discuss other important protection. For example using a helmet when riding a bike or scooter. Another word that begins with the letter ‘U’ is under. When Morah told us to lie down on our backs and slide under the table we thought she was joking. When we went under the tables we used crayons to write our names and draw a picture!
