End of the year prep

We started off our week with a trip to the Aquarium. After learning about many sea creatures it was lots of fun to watch a movie about jellyfish, enjoy a sea lion show and see sharks, stingrays, coral up close! Looking at the calendar we noticed that our graduation celebration is next week! To prepare we've been practicing songs and making beautiful art we can't wait to share with you all.

ABC Party!

Can you believe it? We did it! All the alphabet letters!! Throughout this whole year we have been learning and practicing all of our letters. This week Morah took each large ABC letter that we decorated and reviewed what we learned about for each letter. It was incredible how much the children remembered!

Sea Life

The ocean is one of the most incredible places on our planet. It is a home for many sea life creatures. This week we continued learning about the ocean. There are some plant-look-alike creatures that live on the ocean floor called coral. Coral is made up of lots of singular pieces called polyp. Using clay we decorated our ocean art by spreading out the clay with our finger tips. Enjoy our ocean art! ‘Lag BaOmer’ is a special day in the Jewish calendar. It celebrates an important mitzvah in the Torah ‘Ahavat Yisroel’, which means to love your fellow Jew. We celebrated Lag BaOmer in the park with all the Chai Tots friends, it was great!

Z is for Zebra

This week Nursery reached a big mile stone. After much time and lots of letters, we finally reached the last alphabet! The animal that we learned about this week has lots of similarities to the horse. Using a Venn Diagram we compared and contrasted the zebra and the horse. The zebra has stripes , a bushy mane, and lives in the grasslands. The horse is usually a solid color, has a longer mane, and lives on the farm. The zebra is shorter than the horse. The zebra’s stripes are like peoples' finger prints - no two are the same. Even though they look very similar they each have a unique pattern. We created our very own zebra. Next week will be ABC party week!

Sea Life

This week we began the unit of sea life. We started with the octopus. We reviewed the different parts of the octopus’s body - tentacles, suckers, mantle and how it regenerates if a tentacle is torn. Using pipe cleaners we made our own octopus. We continued with the dolphin. They are mammals just like the whales, which means they need to come up for air too. We remembered the term ‘breach’ and learned that it applies to dolphins as well. They communicate with one another through whistling and clicking. Next week we will learn about the home of these sea creatures and its different levels.

Y is for Yellow

We reviewed the primary colors and discovered that yellow starts with the letter ’Y’. We each came up with something that is yellow and created a web out of it. The sun, taxi, school bus, corn, lemonade, were a few of the yellow items we named. We reviewed the concept of similarities and differences. All the above mentioned items have one similarity—they’re all yellow. In the morning we are learning about sea life, after dancing to the famous ‘Yellow Submarine’ song we decorated our very own Yellow submarine! We are so excited we have one more letter to the end of the alphabet!!

Thank you Dads for coming out last night!

X is for X-Ray, Israel Day and Spring!
